unique_letters = set(text.lower())
unique_letters.remove(' ')

print(unique_letters)

print ('odd') if len(unique_letters) % 2 else print ('even')

Result:

{'o', 'h', 'e', 'l', 'i', 's', 'a', 't'}
even
