I solved this problem by using the Dispatcher:

private void grid_SizeChanged(object sender, SizeChangedEventArgs e)
{
    //text.Text = grid.Width.ToString();
    Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(new Action(() => text.Text = grid.Width.ToString()));
}
