- Relieving Letter: Relieving letter is a confirmation of your resignation. It consists of your last working date.
You can receive the relieving letter immediately after accepting your resignation, there is no need to wait until you leave the job.
This reliving letter can be used to apply for other jobs. It ensures that you are available to join the new job. - Experience Letter: The experience letter/certificate is proof of your work history in the organization. It includes your designation, date of joining, date of leaving, and major duties.
An experience letter is essential for advancing your career.
Every time you receive an experience certificate, it enhances the credibility of your resume. - Salary Slip: The salary slip/payslip contains a detailed breakdown of your monthly salary, including earnings and deductions. Your employer will provide you with either a printed or soft copy of the salary slip via email.
It’s always recommended to have at least the last 3 months’ salary slips of your work. Salary slips are required for future employment, loans, term insurance, and also to apply for some government schemes. - Form 16: If the tax deducted at source (TDS) is deducted from your salary, you need to collect your Form 16 from the employer. Form 16 is a TDS certificate that contains information about the tax deducted and remitted to the Government. Employers can access your Form 16 on their TRACES website.
If your employer does not issue a Form 16, you can download 26AS from the Income Tax Portal to see if taxes are paid or not.
Other Important Information to Know When Leaving A Job
- UAN Number: Collect your UAN number before leaving the job, and make sure your details are correct in your PF account. Ensure that your KYC details, such as Aadhar, PAN, and bank details, are properly linked to your PF account. So that you will not face any problems during PF withdrawal and transfer.
- ESIC Number: If you are contributing to the ESIC scheme, get your ESIC IP number and make sure all your details on the ESIC Portal are correct.
- Health Insurance Details: If you have any health insurance, collect the insurance cards or at least know the insurance numbers. Because some group health insurance schemes may provide health insurance services for a specific period after leaving the job. To obtain those details, contact your HR department.
- Your Original Documents: If you have submitted any original documents to the company at the time of your joining collect them as early as possible.
- Gratuity: If your company falls under the Gratuity Act of 1972 and you have over 5 years of gratuity-eligible services, then you can apply for a gratuity. To claim your gratuity, submit gratuity claim form i along with the cheque or bank passbook to the HR department.
- Bonus: If you need to receive a pending bonus or incentive, ask your HR when it will be credited (or) sometimes you need to do a regular follow-up.
