The “best”\u2122 solution is to not use pointers at all, as then there’s no dynamic allocation that you can forget to delete.<\/p>\n

For your case it includes a few rather minor changes to make it work.<\/p>\n

First of all I recommend you create a Song<\/code> constructor taking all needed values as arguments, then it becomes easier to create Song<\/code> objects:<\/p>\n

Song::Song(std::string const& title, std::string const& artist, std::string const& album, unsigned year)\n    : m_title(title), m_artist(artist), m_album(album), m_year(year)\n{\n}\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Then inside your SongCollection<\/code> class use a vector of Song<\/code> objects<\/em> instead of pointers:<\/p>\n
std::vector<Song> collection;\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Then add songs to the vector while creating the objects all in one go:<\/p>\n
 try {\n  t_year = std::stoi(t_year);\n }\n catch (...) {\n  t_year = 0;\n }\n\n collection.emplace_back(t_title, t_artist, t_album, t_year);\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
And finally remove the SongCollection<\/code> destructor.<\/p>\n
No pointers, no (explicit) dynamic allocation, no memory leaks. And no breaking the rules of three\/five<\/a>, by following the rule of zero.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
