Instead of overwriting the same variable, cb<\/code>, try using an iterable type such as dict<\/code>ionary. You should also need to be attaching the value of Checkbutton<\/code> to a tkinter variable class<\/a>, such as BooleanVar<\/code>, in order to easily track its status & value.<\/p>\n

The code below produces a GUI that re-writes Text<\/code> each time a Checkbutton<\/code> is selected. It first populates a dictionary, cbs<\/code>, with items from a list, cb_list<\/code>, as keys and tk.Checkbutton<\/code> objects as the values. <\/p>\n

Checkbutton<\/code> objects are so that each is attached to a special object, Tkinter Variable class, BooleanVar<\/code>, which has a get<\/code> method that returns the Checkbutton<\/code> it is attached to’s current value when called. In this case, each Checkbutton<\/code> holds True<\/code> if checked, and False<\/code> if unchecked as its value.<\/p>\n

Each Checkbutton<\/code> is also attached to a method, update_text<\/code>, which is called when any of the Checkbutton<\/code> is pressed. In that method for every Checkbutton<\/code> in cbs<\/code>, it first checks if the Checkbutton<\/code> has True<\/code> value, if so it appends its text<\/code> to a _string<\/code>. After this has been done for all Checkbuttons<\/code>, the method then proceeds as first delete<\/code>ing the entire text in the Text<\/code> widget, then it puts _string<\/code> to the Text<\/code>.<\/p>\n
