This is not only a java principle but a generall programming principle.<\/p>\n

You’re creating a new Answer<\/code> Object.<\/p>\n

Let’s look at this example:<\/p>\n

public class Answer{ \/\/ The class\n\n  private String answer; \/\/ internal variable only visible for the class\n\n  public Answer(String answer){ \/\/ This is a constructor\n    this.answer = answer; \/\/ Here we assign the String we gave this object to an internal variable\n  }\n\n  public void setAnswer(String answer){ \/\/ Setter\n    this.answer = answer;\n  }\n\n  public String getAnswer(){ \/\/ Getter\n    return answer;\n  }\n}\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
So now you have a class\/Object named Answer<\/code>.
\nWhen you now want to use it you need to create<\/strong> a new<\/strong> Object.
\nThis is done over the constructor<\/strong> of a class. ( Constructor = basically a definition of what you need to create the Object )<\/p>\n
First you declare what Object you want your variable to be, then you give the variable a name you can use it under.<\/p>\n
That looks like this:<\/p>\n
Answer variableName<\/code><\/p>\n
But this will not<\/strong> create a new object.
\nTo create it we need to give the keyword new<\/code> in combination of a Constructor of the object we want to create.<\/p>\n
As we defined a constructor that needs a String to create this object we need to call it like this:<\/p>\n
new Answer(\"the string\");<\/code><\/p>\n
If we combine those two we finally have our usable new variable of a new create Answer<\/code><\/p>\n
Answer yourVariable = new Answer(\"the string\");<\/code><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
