Based on the logcat output that you have provided, the first thing you need to address is the fact that your mMap<\/code> variable is null.<\/p>\n

My guess is that you’re either calling displayLocation()<\/code> before the onMapReady(...)<\/code> callback has fired, or your class isn’t equipped to handle the callback at all.<\/p>\n

If you’re using the Google Map Fragment, the basic approach is as follows:<\/p>\n

In your onCreate(...)<\/code> method:<\/p>\n

((SupportMapFragment)getSupportFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.mapFragment)).getMapAsync(this);
\n<\/code><\/p>\n

Make sure your class implements com.google.android.gms.maps.OnMapReadyCallback<\/code>.<\/p>\n

Then, override the onMapReady(GoogleMap googleMap)<\/code> method and set your mMap<\/code> variable.<\/p>\n

@Override\npublic void onMapReady(GoogleMap googleMap){\n\nmMap = googleMap;\n\n\/\/Do whatever else you need to with the map...\n}\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Make sure you don’t use mMap<\/code> until it has been set, and you should be able to add your markers, and do other stuff without issue.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
