This is done by filtering (using <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/api.jquery.com\/filter\/\"><code>.filter()<\/code><\/a>) all <code>.expenses<\/code> elements to ensure that their parent&#8217;s <code>&lt;td&gt;<\/code> index matches that you&#8217;ve determined in step 2<\/li>\n<li>Set the sum on the corresponding <code>.expenses_sum<\/code> element in the same column. This is again, done by filtering all <code>.expenses_sum<\/code> elements and only getting the one whose parent <code>&lt;td&gt;<\/code> index matches<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Some additional pro-tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Listen to the <code>onInput<\/code> event. For input elements, that covers <code>onKeyUp<\/code> and <code>onChange<\/code> events, for convenience.<\/li>\n<li>Use <code>&lt;input type=\"number\" \/&gt;<\/code> to prevent users from erroneously entering non-numerical characters<\/li>\n<li>Use <code>&lt;input readonly \/&gt;<\/code> on the <code>.expenses_sum<\/code> element, so that users don&#8217;t fiddle with that sum by their own<\/li>\n<li>Remember to cast the value of the input elements to a number. This can be done by using the <code>+<\/code> operator, i.e. <code>+this.value<\/code>. Remember that as per spec, all input elements, regardless their <code>type<\/code>, always has their value in type of <code>string<\/code><\/li>\n<li>Chain <code>.each(calculateSum)<\/code> to your original selection, so that you also compute the sum when the page is first loaded, i.e. <code>$(\".expenses\").on('input', calculateSum).each(calculateSum);<\/code>.
