I think there is a bit of a confusion here what the string concatenation does to your values.<\/p>\n

It is nothing less than simply using the default<\/strong> format for a parameterless ToString()<\/code>!<\/p>\n

Each of your strings like<\/p>\n

Debug.Log(\"currentTime: \" + currentTime);\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
basically internally implicitly equal<\/p>\n
Debug.Log(\"currentTime: \" + currentTime.ToString());\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
In that case the ToString()<\/code> without parameters can be omitted since c# already uses it implicitly.<\/p>\n
=> You are<\/strong> using string<\/code> in all your examples! How else do you think anything is logged (as a string!) to the console? \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
As noted in the comments a DataTime<\/code><\/a> is just a point in time and basically just a kind of wrapper around a long<\/code> which are the system ticks<\/strong> passed since the Unix Epoch<\/a>.<\/p>\n
All the other properties, values and formats are calculated based on those ticks on demand (which makes it quite expensive btw).<\/p>\n

So what you want to do is just use DateTime<\/code> for all your calculations and AddMinutes<\/code> etc. and then only when you need to display<\/strong> the (current) value you simply pass in the correct format just like you did in your first line<\/p>\n
