This seams to be bad quality code! Maybe not dangerous, as const<\/code> appears in prototype.<\/p>\n

myFunc(const void * p)<\/code> accepts a pointer to anything and const<\/code> should mean it won’t touch it.<\/p>\n

Now, st<\/code> is a pointer to myStruct<\/code>, so st->arr<\/code> is the value of arr<\/code> member and &st->arr<\/code> is memory address of arr<\/code> member. Assuming arr<\/code> is an array, st->arr<\/code> value is already a pointer.<\/p>\n

So, (char**)<\/code> is possibly the correct type of &st->arr<\/code>, it is a pointer to a character array. And if it is the correct type, there is no need to cast!<\/p>\n

You cast when you need to tell the compiler to handle your data as another data. It would make sense, in this case myFunc((const void *)&st->arr);<\/code><\/p>\n

Anyway, without further information on myFunc, I belive that true programmer intention was myFunc((const void *) st->arr);<\/code><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
