I found a way to do what you are asking for:<\/p>\n

class AddableInt(int):\n    def __call__(self, n):\n        return AddableInt(self + n)\n\ndef add(n):\n    return AddableInt(n)\n\nadd(5)(10)(20) # evaluates to 35\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
This works because the call to add(5)<\/code> creates an AddableInt<\/code> with a value of 5.  No __init__<\/code> method was declared in AddableInt<\/code>, so it just uses int<\/code>‘s default constructor.  The subsequent calls (10)(20)<\/code> each call AddableInt<\/code>‘s __call__<\/code> method, which adds the argument to itself and creates a new AddableInt<\/code>.<\/p>\n
Old answer:<\/strong><\/p>\n
Python does not support what you are asking for.  The closest I can come up with is:<\/p>\n
from functools import partial\ndef add(n=None, terms=None):\n    if n is None:\n        return sum(terms) if terms else 0\n    else:\n        if terms:\n            terms.append(n)\n        else:\n            terms = [n]\n        return partial(add, terms=terms)\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Call it like:<\/p>\n
add(5)(10)(20)() # Note the extra parenthesis on the end\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Better would be to use:<\/p>\n
sum((5,10,20))\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
