\nThe function cin.fail()<\/code> returns true if the failure bit is set in the cin<\/code> stream. <\/p>\n

The expression cin >><\/code> will ignore spaces then attempt to read in the data type. If the read fails, the cin<\/code> status will be set to failure<\/code>. There is an overload that allows the return value of operator>><\/code> to be converted from failure to bool<\/code>. <\/p>\n

The expression cin.get() != '\\n'<\/code>, reads in a character from cin<\/code>, then tests that character for newline ('\\n'<\/code>). Note: the character read from cin<\/code> is deleted and not available for other purposes.<\/em> <\/p>\n
