First up, list<\/code> in this context is a variable name, not a keyword.<\/p>\n

And there’s nothing wrong with that loop code, provided that the Employee<\/code> structure actually has<\/em> an isEmpty<\/code> member that you can assign 1<\/code> to.<\/p>\n

It simply runs through a provided array (called list<\/code>), setting each element in turn to be empty.<\/p>\n

However, your manipulation of len<\/code> seems a bit off, I suspect it won’t modify the last element in the list since you decrement it before running the loop.<\/p>\n

I suspect a more canonical version (including that fix) would be something like:<\/p>\n

int initEmployees(Employee* list, int len) {\n    \/\/ Error if no elements in list.\n\n    if (len < 1) return -1;\n\n    \/\/ Mark each entry as empty.\n\n    for (int i = 0 ; i < len ; i++) {\n        list[i].isEmpty = 1;\n    }\n\n    \/\/ Everything is okay.\n\n    return 0;\n}\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
But I’d also question raising an error on a list size of zero. It seems to me that it’s perfectly okay to modify all elements of an empty list – that just involves doing nothing.<\/p>\n
And, if you use unsigned values for sizes of things (e.g., size_t<\/code>), your “negative” problem goes away.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
