Page starting an asynchronous operation has to have the Async attribute set to true and an asynchronous operation can only be started on a page prior to PreRenderComplete event.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Have you set the Page.Async<\/code> attribute to true<\/code>, and are you starting the asynchronous operation before the PreRenderComplete<\/code> event?<\/p>\n

In general, you should avoid async void<\/code><\/a>. Instead of async void<\/code>, you should<\/a>:<\/p>\n

  1. Ensure your app is targeting 4.5 (or newer) and has httpRuntime.targetFramework<\/code> set to 4.5 (or newer).<\/li>\n
  2. Set Page.Async<\/code> to true<\/code>.<\/li>\n
  3. Use PageAsyncTask<\/code> with RegisterAsyncTask<\/code> to register asynchronous work<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n
