Concatenation, regardless of content of strings always results in:<\/p>\n<pre><code>\"&lt;String1&gt;&lt;String2&gt;\" = \"&lt;String1&gt;\".\"&lt;String2&gt;\";\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>Nothing will not &#8216;erase&#8217; prior tokens in a string or anything like that and is completely harmless.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Caveat!!!!<\/strong> Of course if the string is being used somewhere that interprets it in some specific way where any character or group of characters in the <code>..\/<\/code> is treated special such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a string used for regex pattern<\/li>\n<li>In a string used as a file path (in that case, when it&#8217;s evaluated it will do exactly what you&#8217;d expect if you&#8217;d typed it.<\/li>\n<li>A string used in a SQL query without properly escaping (as with binding params\/values via prepared statements)<\/li>\n<li>etc&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now, if you want to remove the word prior to each occurence of <code>..\/<\/code> starting a word in a sentence, sort-of replicating how the <code>..<\/code> in a path means, go up one level (in effect undoing the step made to the directory in the path prior to it).  <\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a basic algorithm to start you out (if you are able to change the source code) :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use explode with delimiter <code>\" \"<\/code> on the string.<\/li>\n<li>Create a new array<\/li>\n<li>Iterate the returned array, if not <code>..\/<\/code> insert at end of new array<\/li>\n<li>if entry starts with <code>..\/<\/code>, remove the end element of the 2nd array<\/li>\n<li>insert the the <code>..\/somestring<\/code> with the <code>..\/<\/code> string replaced with empty string <code>\"\"<\/code> on the end of the 2nd array<\/li>\n<li>Once at end of array (all strings processed), <code>implode()<\/code> with delimiter <code>\" \"<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example:<\/p>\n<pre><code>&lt;?php\n\n$variable = \"..\/Hi\";\n$string = \"Hello \". $variable . \" World\"; \/\/ Note: I added a space prior to the W \n\n$arr = array();\n\nforeach(explode(\" \", $string) as $word) {\n   if (substr( $word, 0, 3 ) === \"..\/\") {\n      if(!empty($arr)){\n         array_pop($arr);\n      }\n      $arr[] =  str_replace(\"..\/\", \"\", $word);\n   } else {\n      $arr[] = $word;\n   }\n}\n\necho implode(\" \", $arr);\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"mt24\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>            <span class=\"d-none\" itemprop=\"commentCount\">5<\/span> <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[ad_2]<\/p>\n<p>solved Is variable&#8217;s value back-slashing available in PHP? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ad_1] In PHP there exist no special ..\/ (or any other string) that when concatenated to another string generates any string other than the combine original string concatenated with the new string.
