    I noticed that JavaScript cannot read element.style<\/code> from the .white<\/code> class, but could do so when I inserted in-line CSS to each element. This is demostrated in the following jsfiddle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    You were using the this<\/code> scope in your function, without actually providing what this<\/code> actually is. So, I passed a this<\/code> argument in the click<\/code> event handler, and since this<\/code> cannot be used as a function parameter, changed it to e<\/code>. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
