In IDLE (Python’s Integrated Development and Learning Environment), expression values have their representation<\/em><\/strong> echoed to stdout.<\/p>\n

If you want to print a string, use the print()<\/code> function. Otherwise you’ll get its representation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Consider the following code entered into IDLE:<\/p>\n

There are multiple ways to get a string with only one slash:<\/p>\n
single_slash1 = \"\\\\\"\n>>> print(single_slash1)\n\\\n>>> single_slash2 = \"\\ \"[0]\n>>> print(single_slash2)\n\\\n>>> single_slash1 == single_slash2\nTrue\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Similarly, there are multiple ways to get a string with two consecutive slashes:<\/p>\n

We can confirm hitman_str<\/code> only has one slash:<\/p>\n

We can iterate through the string and print each character and its Unicode code point.
\nAs expected, this shows only one slash:<\/p>\n

Raw strings are very handy, especially for Windows paths if you don’t wanna use os.path<\/code> or pathlib<\/code>:<\/p>\n
