How is an integer converted into character?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Let us look at \"%d\"<\/code> first.<\/p>\n

a<\/code> has the value of 97 at this point.  As printf()<\/code> sees a \"%d\"<\/code>, it expects to see an int<\/code> as the next argument – which it is – good.  The value<\/em> of 97 causes 2 characters to print: '9'<\/code> and '7'<\/code>.<\/p>\n
