Introduction

The Punjab Government has recently released the Minimum Wages Notification 2019, effective from 1 March 2019. This notification sets out the minimum wages for all categories of workers in the state of Punjab. Punjab Minimum Wages 2019 Notification W.E.F 1 March 2019

The Government of Punjab has issued a notification for the minimum wages applicable in the state of Punjab with effect from 1 March 2019. The notification has been issued in accordance with the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and the Minimum Wages (Central) Rules, 1950.

The notification states that the minimum wages for unskilled workers in Punjab shall be Rs. 8,724 per month. This is an increase of Rs. 819 from the previous minimum wage of Rs. 7,905 per month.
